Made in U.S.A.

The U-S-A! U-S-A! chants rang out loud and strong as America took to the field in the recent World Cup, held in Brazil. It was quite a sight here at home – stadiums filled with throngs of people rooting not against each other, but together as one. Cheering on the good guys in red, white and blue, our patriotic pride rocketed to new heights. And for a few memorable games, we truly embodied our name … the United States.

Yet, the end of the World Cup doesn’t mean our pride should subside. We’re the greatest nation on earth, with freedoms and a lifestyle many envy and try to emulate. But patriotism demands vigilance, so it’s up to us to stand up and continue supporting our country in any way we can.

One simple, yet often overlooked, way to do your part is to buy American. By consciously seeking out Made in America products, we’re supporting those companies who choose to keep their business here – in our country, employing our people, benefiting our economy. And ultimately, fostering American independence.

The firearms industry has long led the way for domestic production. In fact, some of the earliest American manufacturers were gun companies, and many of those are still going strong today. Remington Arms, founded in Ilion, New York in 1816, is the oldest continuously operating manufacturer in North America. Smith & Wesson, started in 1852, and Colt, 1855, aren’t far behind.

Here’s a look at some manufacturers who proudly claim “Made in the USA” firearms:

American Derringer (Waco, TX)

Barrett Firearms (Murfreesboro, TN)

Big Horn Armory (Cody, WY)

Bond Arms (Granbury, TX)

Calico Light Weapons Systems (Cornelius, OR)

Charter Arms (Shelton, CT)

Colt’s Manufacturing Company (Hartford, CT)

Daniel Defense (Black Creek, GA)

FMK Firearms (Placentia, CA)

Remington Arms (Ilion, NY)

Smith & Wesson (Springfield, MA)

Stag Arms (New Britain, CT)

Sturm, Ruger & Co. (Southport, CT)

The products from these companies may be “Made in the USA,” but it could also be said that they made the USA. Firearms have been a part of our nation’s history from the very beginning – they helped America gain liberty from the British, and they’ve been used to defend our freedoms ever since. These tools are woven tightly into the fabric of our country, and their proud American heritage lives on today.
